Asia-Pacific Model United Nations Conference
What does it mean to be part of TeamUNSW?
As part of TeamUNSW you will be an important member of a community of UNSW students that are engaged and active in Model UN and are inspired by the work of the UN. TeamUNSW offers a friendly and communal platform for all people of all backgrounds and skill levels to mutually develop their potential as diplomats and advocates.
In particular, the UN Society will ensure continuous and ongoing training in core diplomacy skills relevant to MUN as well as a career in the international arena. Being part of the Team also offers an exceptional opportunity to represent UNSW on the national and international stage and meet hundreds of like-minded people from around the world.
Finally, TeamUNSW provides UNSW delegates with unparalleled support. This occurs not only in the training and development field but also logistically and financially. The UN Society has helped several past delegations organise complex travel arrangements and obtain generous grants from various sources to make conferences affordable and accessible for everyone.
What is MUN?
Model United Nations is an exciting mix of debating, international relations and role-playing. As a MUN delegate you are an ambassador to the United Nations and will have a chance to work on the world's most pressing issues from creating a plan to tackle AIDS in Africa to defusing a crisis in Myanmar to resolving the legal status of environmental refugees from Tuvalu. Model UN provides a great opportunity to develop invaluable knowledge and skills.

AMUNC 2009 - Brisbane
The Asia-Pacific Model United Nations Conference (AMUNC) is an annual conference in which approximately 500 tertiary students from the Asia-Pacific region gather for a week to debate and discuss international politics and compete with their fellow students. The conference attracts the brightest student political minds from throughout the region, last year students from all across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and even Pakistan attended the conference in Adelaide. The week-long program fosters a diplomatic atmosphere and encourages students to meet and network with their counterparts from universities all across the Asia-Pacific. The conference is structured just like the actual United Nations, with respective committees and a General Assembly at the conclusion of the week, where all the delegates come together to demonstrate what they have achieved in their committee. Each delegate represents a particular country and must unwaveringly adopt that country’s stance in relation to the particular issue they are debating, and with the rest of their committee, produce a resolution to put to the General Assembly at the end of the week
