The UNSW United Nations Society is committed to protecting the privacy and handling of personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act. This document explains how The UNSW United Nations Society collects, uses and discloses personal information, and the steps being taken to ensure the adhere to the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) and the Commonwealth Privacy Act as of October 2001.

UNSW United Nations Society recognises and values the protection of your personal information. UNSW United Nations Society has devised and will adhere to this policy to describe the means of collection, use, storage, access and disposal of any personal or sensitive information received by UNSW United Nations Society from you. UNSW United Nations Society views privacy as an important issue and we strictly adhere to the NPPs.
Collection of Personal Information
UNSW United Nations Society uses information collected from individuals at joining the society and uses this information in an electronic database. The information collected includes personal names, addresses, contact details including telephone and facsimile number, emails, organisation and organisation position (if applicable), course and course major information. We may also collect information about UNSW events attended, donation history and a limited amount of sensitive information.
Security of Personal Information
Personal information is held in a database program. The database is a secure program and is protected through the use of secure passwords and other security procedures. Access is limited to a small number of committee executives.
Personal information is not transferred to third parties. In such an event as this is to transpire, the UNSW United Nations Society will seek users of this information sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement with UNSW United Nations Society to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the Personal Information.
In some instances, eg. financial records, paper files are also kept and these are also kept in a secure environment.
Please keep in mind that no information transmitted over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. We will endeavour to protect your personal information, however, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us. Your transmissions are conducted at your own risk.
